The Punjab and Haryana High Courts have banned crackers on weddings and other ceremonies on Thursday (December 07). Now people from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh will not be able to do this. The High Court has also banned the bursting of fireworks on the New Year celebration. At the same time, the High Court has asked the two states and Union Territory of Chandigarh to take strict measures to strictly follow this order. The court has asked the district deputy commissioners and police superintendents of Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh to strictly follow the order.
Before this, the High Court had earlier banned cracking firecrackers in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on the occasion of Diwali and had given exemption for only three hours from 6.30 am to 9.30 pm. The court took this decision considering the increasing level of pollution. Punjab-Haryana High Court’s bench of justice AK Mittal and Justice Amit Rawal had then made it clear in its order that detailed guidelines related to the bann will be issued later.
